Cancellations/Postponements/Reopenings

Thursday, Gov. Henry McMaster announced a new executive order reopening the state’s public boat ramps as of Friday, April 17 at noon. However, he said residents still need to practice social distancing.

 

The following information has been provided to us concerning closings/cancellations in SC.


PGA Heritage Golf rescheduled for June 18-21. Unfortunately, we need to proceed without spectators, pro-ams, sponsors and other traditional on-site activities.  With that being said there will be no concessions operations at this years event.


Bridge Run (Charleston) is rescheduled for Aug. 1

 

South Carolina State Parks plan to reopen on Friday, May 1, on a limited basis.  Group facilities like picnic shelters and community buildings, will remain closed for the time being, and visitor gathering places like interpretive centers and park offices also will remain closed initially or will operate on a limited scale.


City of Aiken On Friday, May 22, the Aiken Visitors Center & Train Museum, Aiken Thoroughbred Hall of Fame & Museum, and Clifford S. Gerde Carriage Museum will open under their standard operating hours. 
On Saturday, May 30, all outdoor park amenities will open, including restrooms, picnic shelters, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, disc golf, batting cages, sports fields, and Sprayground.  Group sports practices, trainings, and athletic camps at Citizens Park Sports Complex may resume, with game play and tournaments available beginning June 15. The playground at Virginia Acres Park and the Pool at Smith-Hazel both remain closed due to construction.On Monday, June 1, indoor facilities for programming and rentals will open at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior & Youth Center, Rye Patch Reception Center, and Municipal Building Conference Center. H.O. Weeks Activities Center will reopen Gym 2, Aerobics Rooms, and the Fitness Room for scheduled programs only. 


The City will limit participation in numbers, and safety measures will be implemented accordingly based on social distancing orders and following CDC, SCDHEC, and other federal and/or state guidelines.  Contact each respective facility for more information regarding programming, rentals, and specific guidelines for play.

Beaufort County  all Beaufort County buildings are closed to the public until further notice to minimize opportunities to spread COVID-19 in our community.  As for programs, all are cancelled. We are feeding seniors and making daily home visits. All rentals are cancelled. As for parks everything is closed locked and signs on them.

 

City of Charleston  re-opened most of its parks on May 1st.  We did not re-open parks with fishing piers or direct water access.  We also kept our dog runs, tot lots, and basketball courts closed.  We continue to allow parks to be used for exercise and health pursuits – no gathering, social distancing must be in place, no organized pick up games, no picnics.  The weekend went very well and we will continue to discuss the next phases with our local health officials. 
 

City of Clemson has canceled their Spring Sports seasons.  This includes youth baseball, youth softball, spring soccer and Adult Church league softball.  Camp Clemson has also been canceled, but a modified version will be offered to include "Camp in a Box" and some outdoor activities if it is safe in July.   

 

Town of Central Recreation Department will continue their suspension of all youth sports and adult team sports activities until further notice. This suspension includes all practices and games.The target date to continue our Spring Sports is now June 1, or earlier, if the Governor issues an Executive Order that allows it. Our goal is to still have a safe Spring Season!!


Town of Cheraw is cancelling all Town sponsored gatherings out of an abundance of caution through July 4th.  This includes Third Thursday, Market on Market, Sports, Summer Camps, the All-Stars Football Camp, and the 4th of July Celebration.   The cancellation comes as social distancing guidelines are expected to continue for the foreseeable future, the difficulty in planning events during the uncertainty of the pandemic, and difficulty securing vendors when they also face uncertainty or have concerns about their own health.  While we are disappointed that we will be unable to host these events, the safety of our residents remains our top priority. 

 

Town of Clover Parks and Recreation has cancelled/suspended all athletic programs, events and rentals. The Clover Community Center/Gallery 120 has closed. All parks remain open for leisure use.

For the safety of our staff and visitors, Charleston County Parks restrooms, showers, playgrounds, off-leash dog parks, spray play areas, retail and food operations and rentals will be closed and lifeguards will not be on duty. Please plan your visit accordingly. Additional parks and amenities will open in the coming weeks.

 

City of Columbia cancels all after school programs and park facilities


Easley Parks and Recreation  It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of all spring sport programs that are governed under Easley Parks and Recreation Department. We will be issuing full invoiced reimbursement for this season. This reimbursement will be in the form of a check that is made out to the individual who completed the participant’s registration and will be mailed to the address listed on the registration.

 

Fairfield County Effective immediately, Fairfield County Parks and Recreation along with Fairfield County administration has cancelled all spring sports including baseball and softball.  Cancellations also include gymnastics and dance. FCPR will offer either a full refund or a credit for all spring fees paid.  Participants can choose to request a refund or roll the monies over to the next sport or program.     

 

City of Florence  Parks and playgrounds are still open, Closed our basketball courts from being used; Canceled our rentals for parks including shelters, gazebos and events until May 15th.  Canceled all community center rentals until May 15th.  All programs for youth in the community centers are canceled until May 15th.  April 30 update on Athletics  

 

Fort Mill All town Parks & Recreation facilities are closed until further notice. All recreation youth & adult spring sports programs are suspended


City of Goose Creek  The passive areas of our City parks are now open, with the exception of Fairfax Park on St. James Avenue. This includes all passive areas of our parks: green spaces, picnic tables, park benches, etc. For now, the parks' playgrounds will remain closed. Please remember to follow safe, social distancing practices at all parks. All other recreational facilities will remain closed until at least May 31

 

All Greenville County Programs, All youth and adult athletic and recreational programs, events and all field rentals canceled until further notice.

 

City of Greenville the City of Greenville has determined we will not be hosting on-site summer camps this season. All camps (Recreation and Zoo) will be held virtually and include “camp in a box” activities. 

 

Greenwood County has decided to cancel baseball and softball for the year due to covid-19. The refund checks will be processed and ready in the next couple of weeks.

 

The City of Greer will close public access to City buildings beginning March 24, asking customers to contact staff electronically for assistance. As an additional step to promote social distancing, the City is closing its parks and playgrounds during the global pandemic. Employees will continue to staff City offices and may be contacted by phone and email. All spring sports seasons have been cancelled. This includes our youth baseball, youth softball, and youth soccer leagues.   Contact information is posted on entries to each department and is also available at www.cityofgreer.org

 

City of Hardeeville  Our Complex remains closed including bb courts, playground, and all athletic fields.  As soon as the Governor lifts restrictions, we will reopen.  In addition, we have cancelled our Fishing Rodeo that had been previously rescheduled once already and our annual 4th off Main Fireworks show. 


Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission Beginning on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, Saluda Shoals Park will open outdoor restrooms on the east end of the park only. Canoe, kayak, tube and bike rentals will also be available, weather and river conditions permitting. The dog park is also open.

 

Kershaw County Parks & Recreation has canceled all classes and building rentals until further notice. Spring season sports have been cancelled.


Lancaster County has canceled all activities and rentals to include practices, jamborees, games, etc through April 3. 


Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission will suspend the following activities, programs and Special Events: All youth and adult sports activities will be suspended through June 1. This includes all practices, games, tournaments and rentals.  All facility rentals through June 1. All After School programs will close and remain closed through the public school closure ordered by the Governor.  All programs, classes and facility rentals within the Leisure Centers will be suspended through June 1  All Leisure Centers and Gymnasiums will be closed to the public through April 4th.  All Senior Centers and the Congregate Meal Program will be suspended until June 1.  Home Delivered Meal “Meals on Wheels” will operate on normal schedule.  

 

Town of Moncks Corner has closed all facilities.  All of our playgrounds, fields, batting cages, and basketball courts are closed. 

 

Mt. Pleasant The following parks will reopen April 25: Cheryll Woods-Flowers Soccer Complex, Jimmy Seignious Softball Fields (located behind R. L. Jones Center) and the Park West Recreation Complex Track/Fields. The three recreational parks will reopen subject to the following guidelines: Following the initial opening Saturday at 10:00 AM, parks will be open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM; All social distancing and gathering restrictions as required by Governor McMaster will apply, Enforcement of distancing and gathering limits will be conducted by Recreation staff with the assistance of Mount Pleasant Police Department, Visitors must remain moving.; o lingering, no blankets or picnics; The Park West Track will be set up so that all people must walk or run in the same direction.; ll outdoor tennis courts will remain closed, All playgrounds will remain closed, Restroom facilities at these locations will not be open; Dogs are not allowed on the athletic fields. Dog walkers using the trails must keep their pets on a leash.

 

City of Myrtle Beach has closed all recreation centers and cancelled all programs and closed all public playgrounds as well.  Passive Parks & Dog Parks remain open at this time. Spring sports leagues are cancelled.

 

City of Newberry’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism offices, public parks and facilities are closed to the public during this time. Additionally, all programs have been suspended until further notice, to include youth and adult athletics, Newberry Arts Center programs, Newberry Firehouse Conference Center events/rentals, Oakland Tennis Center programs, Senior Adult programs and park shelter and cabin rentals

 

City of North Augusta has cancelled/postponed all programs, activities, events, and rentals until further notice. Playgrounds, athletic fields, and outdoor basketball courts remain closed until further notice. Trails and green spaces are open with social distance. Tennis courts and disc golf course will open on Friday, May 8. Spring sports has target date of June 1 or earlier if the Governor issues an executive order that allows it.

 

City of North Charleston all program and facilities closed. Includes playgrounds. Spring Sports season has been cancelled.

 

Oconee County PRT-Oconee County Parks, Recreation & Tourism announce Park Re-opening Plan
•        May 15-Open park day use areas and High Falls boat ramp with limited hours and 50% vehicle capacity. Day use restrooms will open and be sanitized multiple times daily closing temporarily until dry from sanitizer. Playgrounds will remain closed. Retail and park offices will remain closed. Campgrounds will remain closed.
•        May 22- Playgrounds will open. They will be sanitized multiple times daily and be closed until dry from sanitizer. Retail spaces will open with limited capacity and space around the counter/register area.
•        June 1-  Increase day use capacity to 75% with regular hours; Open campgrounds to existing reservations, No additional reservations accepted until June 15. Building/shelters remain closed.
•        June 15- Increase to full capacity still operating under limited space restrictions and social distancing rules. Building and shelter reservations will resume.
Limited Hours- will be 7am-8pm May 15-May 31. 
Day Use Percentages- phased opening will be a percentage of marked vehicle spots for day use parking (see below). Day use percentages do not apply to boats/trailer parking at ramps.
Annual passes-All March, April and May annual passes are valid through June 30

City of Orangeburg  full time staff on a rotating schedule , part-time staff is off.  Full maintenance staff.  However we have closed all parks, playground, facilities and shelters.  We have also closed all restrooms to the public and suspended all events, activities, and sports until further notice. We have also per the governor closed our boat ramp access.

 

City of Pickens has cancelled all spring volleyball and soccer. Baseball and softball practices and games suspended through through March 31. Our playgrounds and public restrooms are closed at all of our public parks; i.e., Playground of Promise, Doodle Park Playground and Pickens Recreation Center Playground. Both of our bike parks are still open; i.e., Town Creek Bike Park and the Doodle Trail as well as our Town Creek Walking Trail. Out of an abundance of caution, our city offices are limiting entry into our buildings.  The doors are locked and entry is limited. The is no open gym time and no gym rentals. We are now starting to discuss how far out we want to start cancelling events at our amphitheater but that hasn't been finalized yet.

The City of Rock Hill  the Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track, the Rock Hill Tennis Center and the Giordana Velodrome are open, each implementing new guidelines and safety measures. 
A couple items to note: - Credit/debit cards only; cash will not be accepted. - Bring your own water (water fountains and coolers will not be accessible). - No equipment rentals. - Space is limited. Please call each facility directly to schedule a time. All facilities will resume Regular Operating Hours. Simpsonville closing all parks and playgrounds until further notice 

 

Spartanburg County has suspended the following programs until May 15, 2020:  Senior Adult / 50+ Wellness, After Class Enrichment, Youth and Adult Athletics (to include practices, games and rentals); Recreation Programs; Special Events. The following facilities will be closed until May 15, 2020: Athletic fields, basketball courts and volleyball courts, All playgrounds, All Community Centers to include indoor fitness centers: Chesnee Community Center, Cleveland Park Event Center, Lake Cooley Outdoor Education Center, Timken Community Center, TW Edwards Community Center, Woodruff Leisure Center.  The following parks: Chesnee Park, Clifton Park, Fairmont Larkin Park, Gordon Henry Park and Mabry Park. All community center, picnic shelter and athletic field rentals have been canceled through May 15, 2020. 

 

City of Spartanburg Parks, Recreation has suspended all community center programming, athletic league games/practices and rentals until further notice. We will be coordinating with area school districts and community partners on supportive services provided through our facilities at this time. Council members said three trails in the city have been closed and the Rail Trail may also close if officials see an increase in traffic involving people who are not properly socially distancing themselves.

 

St Andrew’s fitness center is open

 

Town of Summerville playgrounds, community center, boat landing, skatepark and public restrooms are closed.  We’ve cancelled all permits, rentals, and activities.  Staff have the option to work from home, however they are also permitted to come into the office if they prefer.

 

City of Tega Cay We are happy to announce that we are reopening the Catawba River Access on New Grey Rock Rd. The river access area will reopen on Friday morning at 9 AM. All Executive Orders from Governor McMaster regarding groups of 3 or less will remain in effect. Any groups larger than that, that do not live in the same household, will be asked to leave the facility. If you chose to use the facility, you must also follow all CDC guidelines on social distancing. Generally, activities that are permissible are fishing (with a valid fishing license), tubing with your own tubes (no rentals at this time) provided you are in small groups and are able to distance, kayaking and canoeing. Any groups found loitering or congregating at the facility may be subject to being charged with a misdemeanor under the Governor’s Executive Order.
