Join your fellow parks and maintenance professionals from across the state at the 2020 SCRPA Parks Maintenance Institute! This 2-day professional development program is designed exclusively for all park maintenance staff in SC.

“C.Y.A – Checking Your Assets” – Brandon Goff, Manager, Givhans Ferry State Park, SCPRT 
A multifaceted approach to facility and equipment inspections. Including potential liabilities, financial impacts and abatement of issues in a variety of park settings.


Education Session 2           2:10-3:10

Preventive Maintenance and Small Engine Repairs -  Scott Roof Smith Turf & Irrigation

Small Engine Repair and General Maintenance on Mowers.  Also Preventive Maintenance on both.


Education Session 3            3:20-5:20

Maintenance Rodeo                                       

Show off your skills with maintenance equipment to complete a variety of challenges.

A.     Sports Turf Maintenance: When to Perform Tasks -  Jackie Jordan, Clemson Extension Agent, Fairfield, Kershaw & Richland Counties                                      
Learn how to determine the appropriate time to perform a variety of tasks to improve your sports turf. (1 pesticide credit)


              B.     Playground Inspection & Maintenance – Eddie LaRocque, Playground Guardian

Learn about playground safety and inspection plans.     


Education Session Block 2  9:10-10:10


A.     Spreader / Sprayer Calibration -  Justin Ballew, Clemson Extension Agent, Lexington and Saluda Counties.

A hands-on lesson covering the basics of sprayer and spreader calibration. Handouts will be supplied that attendees can use as a reference in the future. (1 pesticide credit)


              B.     This Don’t Make No DANG Sense! – Pearse Tormey, Co-Executive Director  – Carolina Elite Soccer Association 

             Try to make sense of it all by taking a look at tournament planning through the eyes of a tournament director.

Opioid Epidemic – Capt. Brian Godfrey, Richland County Sheriff’s Department

Hear about drug trends, overdose deaths, the different types of drugs abused, their symptoms and associated paraphernalia.

Refund Policy:

On or before Dec. 22, $25 will be deducted from your refund. Between Dec. 22 - January 8, 50% of your total registration fee will be deducted from your refund.  After January 8, no refunds.  **In addition, ALL credit card refunds are subject to an additional $6.95 processing fee.
