Human Resources 101:  What You Need to Know

 

Participants of this workshop will learn from our panel of experts about team building for workplace performance, how to properly manage and supervise employees, how to be effective managers and HR best practices.  It provides all the tools you need to be a better leader.  The workshop concludes with “Ask HR” giving participants an opportunity to get answers to specific HR questions they may have.

10:00 – 10:15                     SCRPA updates and business

10:15 – 11:15                     Session I – Team Building for Workplace Performance

Lead Large Group Team Development that will work to connect the group through shared experiences.

 

 11:15 – 12:15                     Session II – Five key Human Resource Points for Supervisors to Remember when Interacting with Employees

 Supervisors have constant interaction with their employees.  As a result it is important to know and understand the basics of human resources and how to properly manage and supervise employees. In this discussion we will go over the top 5 points for supervisors to remember when interacting with their employees. This includes why proper documentation is needed and what “proper documentation” means; how to deal with a disgruntled employee; top hiring practices to obtain quality employees; how to investigate potential employee misconduct and how to discipline employees.

12:45 – 1:45                       Session III – Essential HR for Managers: Effective Managerial Practices 

Effective managers and supervisors consistently utilize managerial practices and maintain a work environment that encourages open communication, mutual respect, high performance, and strong teams.  That’s a tall order!  Whether you’re new to supervision or a more experienced manager, join us for a discussion of best practices and perception-broadening concepts designed to help you become a better leader.  This session concludes with an “Ask HR” round so come prepared with your questions and ask away.

 

Learning Outcomes:

 1.  Utilize the Manager Self-Assessment Tool to raise your awareness about the areas in which your intentional efforts at improvement may be needed.

2.  Understand the Asset vs. Tool Managerial Philosophy and its resulting impact on your work environment.
