JOB TITLE: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Organization: Leroy Springs & Company, Inc.
OVERVIEW
Under limited supervision, plans, organizes, implements and supervises the provision of a safe, quality recreational sports programs for the members and patrons of the Leroy Springs Recreation Complex. Performs related work as required. Reports to the Assistant Director of Recreation.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Supervises daily athletic program operations; directs and supervises duties of athletic staff, coaches and volunteers. Supervisory duties include scheduling; instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; selecting new employees; acting on employee problems; and approving employee discipline and discharge.
- Plans, organizes, schedules and implements athletic/sporting activities,camps, programs and tournaments for members, patrons and volunteers; makes policy decisions on procedures, rules and regulations involved with each sport. Supervises specific sports and activities as scheduled.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Able to supervise others.
- Above average computer skills, must be proficient in MS Office, various other applications.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent customer relations skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people and circumstances.
REPORTING TO THIS POSITION
Volunteers, coaches, attendants.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed.
- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Parks and Recreation or other relevant field supplemented by five to seven years of experience in athletic program management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Parks and Recreation Department
Description: Employee provides assistance to the Recreation Assistant Supervisor for Aquatics in all administrative aspects of an indoor swimming pool operation. Pool has eight 25 yard lanes. Programs offered include American Red Cross swimming lessons and certification training, and water exercise. Areas of responsibility include: facility management, program coordination, staff supervision, water chemistry maintenance, and public relations administration. Duties include: staff training and evaluation, program and event planning, pool maintenance, life guarding, safety inspections, record keeping, marketing, front desk operations, customer service, and program instruction. Strong interpersonal skills, decision making skills, and communication skills are necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years old
- High School diploma or the equivalent.
- Two – three years experience in aquatics or a related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Current certifications in the following: Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and must have either Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or Lifeguard Training Instructor at time of employment (and must obtain the other within first six months of employment).
- Valid North Carolina Class “C” Driver’s License (may be obtained after hire.)
Preferred Qualifications: (must be obtained within first six months of employment):
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or equivalent
Hiring Range: $23,268.00 - $27, 921.00 with full benefits
